Pointless

So i came home today in a bad mood and immediately resorted to my twin comforts, food and stories. Watched the movie Troy which did not relieve my bad mood but added sad to the mix so now have a sad bad mood ... hmmmm... Troy, the story of two people who can't keep their pants on and really should have learned some self control as the last two and a half hours of the movie tell the consequences of this lack. It doesn't seem quite fair to me that almost everybody dies except these two. The movie is full of people making grand guestures; invading a country because your pride is hurt - Menelaus, invading a country because of your lust for power - Agamemnon, Ignoring a war because the King took your Girl - Achilles, killing a good man because he unwittingly killed your cousin - Achilles again, etc. The thought that struck me is that as humans we make these grand and pointless guestures as we scrabble for our own little happinesses and what for? we all die in the end! Does it matter that we did it (whatever it is) for power, for money, for memory or for love? We are all the same, grasping for what makes us happy and gives us a little hope in this life under the sun and it all turns to dust and blows away in the end. Utter meaninglessness. Is there more to life???
